A high-quality cotton tea towel featuring the stylish hand drawn map of London’s Chinatown reimagined by international textile artist, Ekta Kaul. The map was developed through community and volunteer workshops to find unique and beautiful ways to depict London’s Chinatown and celebrate the heritage of this iconic part of the Capital. Ekta developed the map as her artistic response to the stories, experiences and memories shared with her during a residency in Chinatown.
Hand drawn and available in teal and orange, the tea towel allows a piece of London’s Chinatown to travel home. Ideal as a gift, souvenir or a treat for your own kitchen, the tea towel is printed on high quality cotton and manufactured in the UK.
The map features stylised heritage plaques to show the hidden Chinese heritage of this special neighbourhood alongside icons and elements that Chinatown community members described as forming special connections, memory and meaning.
*NOTE ON DELIVERY TIMES: orders of tea towels will be dispatched within 1 week once purchased. If you need something sooner, let us know and we'll do our best to help.
Made in Chinatown brings together artists, community members and volunteers to create unique and beautiful products that share the hidden stories of London’s Chinatown.
Through a series of community workshops and Artist-in-Residence programmes, our products are developed collectively by people who are passionate about raising the awareness of the cultural significance of this iconic district in London. These products represent the cultural identities of the diverse and changing Chinatown communities and aim to enrich your connections with this special neighbourhood.
All profits from these products fund future heritage and community projects in Chinatown. Made in Chinatown was developed by China Exchange, a UK registered charity based
in London’s Chinatown and is now run by volunteers at the Chinatown Collective.
The tea towel is packed in cellophane with a printed belly band, and wrapped in tissue paper before it is packaged into recycled packaging.
